2026 Fishing Season Rates:
Rent is $300 per night for 1 to 12 guests.
Required Insurance Certificates vary between $150 to $300 depending on the length of your stay.
-
A Certificate of Insurance or COI is required for all rentals. See “Seldom Inn Fishing Season Rental” for coverage requirements.
Your Agent - You can usually get a COI from your own insurance agent. This probably the lowest cost option. Certificates would need to be sent to MRCR ahead of your check in date.
Third Party Agent - We recommend EventHelper.com to purchase a one off insurance certificate.
MRCR Staff - Our registration staff will take your info and make arrangements for a COI on your behalf for a fee.
-
Yes! You’ll need a fishing license, and possibly a separate Steelhead license. Check with Fish and Wildlife about how to get set up. There are no places to get a license in the Mattole Valley.
-
One full size, two twin, and 4 to 8 bunks. No more than 12 guests are allowed at a time, and that would be pretty tight.
-
The Mattole runs pretty high in the winter after a good rain, so the riverbank just below camp is narrow. Seldom Inn makes a great base camp for accessing fishing spots all over the Mattole Valley.
-
Winter rains swell the Mattole River for a few days during and after. Check your favorite weather information source for conditions in Petrolia, CA.
A discharge flow rate of 320cfs at Petrolia is required for fishing. Find current levels on the USGS Website.
-
If your dates are available, you can be fishing within a day or two usually. We will do our best to process requests quickly one received.
Insurance certificates sometimes slow down this process. If you wish to purchase one through MRCR, be sure to answer any emailed questions as soon as you can.
